Iranian short film ‘Exam’ to vie at Palm Springs

Iran’s short ‘Exam’ is to compete at the Palm Springs Int’l ShortFest in the US.

Iranian short title ‘Exam’ has been selected to compete at the 26th Palm Springs International ShortFest in the US.

Directed by Sonia Haddad, the short film narrates the story of a girl named Sadaf who has forebodings for the exam she is going to take.

But today, instead of going to school, she must deliver a package of illegal drugs to a client and gets caught in a weird cycle of events.

‘Exam’ has participated at several international festivals and grabbed some awards, including the AFI fest award which made the title qualified for the short film category of the Oscars 2021 and the 35th Sundance Film Festival in the US has honored the flick’s star Sadaf Asgari with the Special Jury Award for Best Actor.

The Oscar-qualifying Palm Springs International ShortFest aims to stay the medium that keeps film markets, filmmakers and viewers connected.

Facing “these challenging and unprecedented times caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic”, the festival will be held online this June.

The event also includes virtual classes and panels and free screening of a portion of the official selected films.

This edition of the festival is scheduled for June 16-22, 2020.
